***** Our Five Point Pre-delivery QC Check *****

Our Quality Assurance to You

We always do our very best to describe items we have for sale as accurately as conditions allow. Sometimes weights, dimensions, and/or colours can vary slightly. These variations are usually extremely small and are natural and beyond our control.

We understand that sometimes photographs, and/or computer screens, do not do our products the true justice they rightly deserve. But that is the nature of shopping on the internet. We want you to rest assure that our beautiful items of jewellery are of the very best quality and colour, and will definitely look even more spectacular when worn.

All items are quality checked prior to dispatch following our extensive 5 point check (see below) and are new, unmarked and never previously worn (unless pre-owned).

When you go shopping anything you buy is covered by a law called The Sale of Goods Act 1979. This means that when you buy a product it should be:

  • as described

    • fit for purpose

      • of satisfactory quality

      As described

This means that the item you buy should be the same as any description of it. A description could be what the seller has said to you about the item or something written in a brochure.

      Fit for purpose

What you buy should be able to do the job that it was made for. Also, goods should be fit for any specific purpose you agreed with the seller at the time of sale.

      Satisfactory quality

Goods that are of satisfactory quality are:

      • free from minor defects (problems)

      • of a good appearance and finish

      • strong and safe
        Here at Nuttalls of Chester:

Our team of jewellers first confirm the latter and then add our own 5 Point Quality Assurance Check for your extra peace of mind.

        1. General Appearance and Quality - To the naked eye items must be void of obvious scratches/marks/defects etc, and show an overall excellent standard of workmanship. The item must adhere to the general description advertised including finger size required and any other bespoke additions such as engraving, diamond upgrades, etc.

        2. Hallmarking - All items must confirm to current British Hallmarking Standards where necessary http://www.nuttallsofchester.co.uk/jewellery-shop/info.php?action=viewInfo&info=Hallmarking  and should therefore have the applicable stamp. Please note: some items may also have our registered 'punch' mark.

        3. Stone quality - (if applicable) - Any stones present must be at least of the quality advertised and free from anything other than natural defects that are usually present in real and natural gemstones.

        4. Setting, Mounts and Fittings - (if applicable) - The setting must hold stones secure. Settings, mounts and fittings must be free of obvious faults and also secure where applicable. Please note: Due to the nature of handmade jewellery, some items may not always be as symmetrical in appearance as those that are machine made, but should still maintain an overall high quality standard.

        5. Shank - (if applicable) - the shank or band must be free from any obvious blemishes and/or scratches, and should show an overall uniform and suitable finish.

Important: Only items that have been 'tagged' with our Quality Approved Security Labels have met our stringent 5 Point Quality Assurance Check.

Our 5 Point Quality Check in no way affects your statutory rights.
