Peridot - Birthstone for August

Peridot was called the 'gem of the sun' by the Ancient Egyptions and 'evening emerald' by the Romans who often mistaken it as such. Hawaiians thought it to be the Goddess Peles' tears. Pirates thought it had the power to drive away evil spirits, and powdered peridot has been used to cure asthma - No wonder it was Cleopatras' favourite gemstone!

Please note: Due to the nature of handmade jewellery, some items may not always be as symmetrical in appearance as those that are machine made, but should still maintain an overall high quality standard.
Shank - (if applicable) - the shank or band must be free from any obvious blemishes and/or scratches, and should show an overall uniform and suitable finish.
